WHAT I LIKE ABOUT HOME SCHOOL!

I like being home schooled because I can learn so much better. I like home school because I can stop and ask mom what does that means. I like home school because I can learn more. I like it because I learn grammar, math, reading, writing, work shop, how to fix things, cooking, how to talk to people, engineering, and much more.

I like it because I have a great mom and dad who teach me new things and they are trying to make the best for me. I like it because its is so much fun. I like to thank them for helping me being the best I can be.

Thank you mom and dad  ....... Love Tarrik

TANKER CREATION FOR BASE STATION

My Lego Starwars Tanker

Sitting in my lego room I starred at six tires on an older lego design and the idea for a new creation began to formulate in the corners of my mind. Without a game plan, and only a vague idea of what was to develop I started visualizing a new Starwars tanker for my lego station.

Reaching down I removed the tires from the truck and reassembled them on the base of my newly developing tanker.  Next, I started searching for lego parts that would formulate the base to stabalize my new tanker design. Through trial and error a new heavy duty cannon that had the ability to spin 360 degrees was assembled on a 4x8 flat to allow for a gunner seat. The seat would allow the clone gunner to shoot in all directions.

Next, I began looking around for pieces that would allow for a upwards and downwards movement of the cannon. This along with the ability to move forwards and backwards gave the tank the agility to protect the base for all incoming attacks.

Knowing it needed the ability to shoot in daylight or night, lights were added. I love the new addition to my Starwars lego base station. Designing new creations gives me a feeling of accomplishment and joy. Here's until we meet again.

Working at the Desert Rose Inn

Yesterday afternoon my father and I were remodeling the floor at the hotel lobby. When a elderly women came in and told us that she has a flat.
I went to the work shop to gather some bolts and a socket wrench. After getting the neccessary tools, I walked to her and asked her if she wanted me to do it. and she said yes!
I walked to the horsetrailer and removed the blots from the tire. than she asked me what is my name?" I told her that my name is Tarrik Tumeh." I asked what was her name "she told me my name is melissa." We shook hands and i continued to removeing the bolts. when takeing off all the bolts off I put a brand new tire andput the bolts back on the tire.
She tried to pay me, I said" I did that to be nice.'' She said that is very nice of you to do that. I said no problem! I'm glad to help! She got in the truck and drove out of the hotel parking lot.
It was a good way for the day to end.

BLUFF WHIPPER SNAPPERS @ MOAB PUMPKIN CHUCKIN FESTIVAL

BUILDING A TREBUCHET

Building these simple machines introduces fundamentals of math and physics using levers, force, torsion, tension, and traction. You can find instructions and diagrams on how to build authentic working model catapults.  Additional projects include learning how to lash and make rope and how to construct and use a hand sling and a staff sling. The colorful history of siege warfare is explored through the stories of Alexander the Great and his battle of Tyre; Saladin, Richard the Lionheart, and the Third Crusade; pirate-turned-soldier John Crabbe and his ship-mounted catapults; and Edward I of England and his battle against the Scots at Stirling Castle.

AMER WAKES UP TO ENJOY A BLUFF SUNRISE

AMER WAKES UP TO ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL BLUFF SUNRISE

THE LEGEND OF STINGY JACK AND THE JACK O'LANGERN

Stingy Jack was a miserable, old drunk who loved playing tricks on anyone and everyone. One dark, Halloween night, Jack ran into the Devil himself in a local public house. Jack tricked the Devil by offering his soul in exchange for one last drink. The Devil quickly turned himself into a sixpence to pay the bartender, but Jack immediately snatched the coin and deposited it into his pocket, next to a silver cross that he was carrying. Thus, the Devil could not change himself back and Jack refused to allow the Devil to go free until the Devil had promised not to claim Jack's soul for ten years.

The Devil agreed, and ten years later Jack again came across the Devil while out walking on a country road. The Devil tried collecting what he was due, but Jack thinking quickly, said, "I'll go, but before I do, will you get me an apple from that tree?"

The Devil, thinking he had nothing to lose, jumped up into the tree to retrieve an apple. As soon as he did, Jack placed crosses all around the trunk of the tree, thus trapping the Devil once again. This time, Jack made the Devil promise that he would not take his soul when he finally died. Seeing no way around his predicament, the Devil grudgingly agreed.

When Stingy Jack eventually passed away several years later, he went to the Gates of Heaven, but was refused entrance because of his life of drinking and because he had been so tight-fisted and deceitful. So, Jack then went down to Hell to see the Devil and find out whether it were possible to gain entrance into the depths of Hell, but the Devil kept the promise that had been made to Jack years earlier, and would not let him enter.

"But where can I go?" asked Jack.

"Back to where you came from!" replied the Devil.

The way back was windy and very dark. Stingy Jack pleaded with the Devil to at least provide him with a light to help find his way. The Devil, as a final gesture, tossed Jack an ember straight from the fires of Hell. Jack placed the ember in a hollowed-out turnip...one of Jack's favorite foods which he always carried around with him whenever he could steal one. From that day forward, Stingy Jack has been doomed to roam the earth without a resting place and with only his lit turnip to light the way in the darkness.

ROCK & GEM SHOW .. MOAB, UTAH

My story begins one October when mom and I were out for a walk looking for beautifully colored rocks. After collecting some we washed and oiled them to bring out their color. Later that day my grandpa and grandma tell us there is going to be a Gem and Rock show in Moab. This starts us thinking about going to Moab to sale our rocks.

We collect all our rock treasures and put them in the car  heading up to Moab. When we arrive we drive our car inside the Old Spanish Trail Arena to set up shop. We open our trunk and unpack the rock near our table. Then we help grandpa with his dinosaur bones and petrified wood. WOW! They were HEAVY! We then jump in mom's durango and head go to our hotel, it is called Jr’s Desert Inn, we were in room 101, It was average, but ok. What mattered was we had great fun at the rock show.

The next morning at 8:00 a.m. we headed to the Rock and Gem show to get our rock treasures ready for the big day! Man the arena was huge and noisey!  We  sold desert roses rocks, they are from Morocco. alabaster carved balls with 2 balls inside a ball. Amazing! Desert rocks, geodes, minerals and fossils. The next day I made a friend and her name was Maddie she was nice and gentle. So I gave her a crystal ball to make a friends with her.

We started to get busy selling my treasures. Later I went to the food court which was upstairs. I ordered some nachos with cheese. They were delicious, until I got some on my jacket.  During the show I  learned how talking with people and building a relationships with them helps you to trade things and increase your profits. I leaned how to deal with people and help each other. That was the best part of learning.  Around 7:00 p.m. everyone put blankets or sheets on there treasures to keep off dirt on there stuff, we did it to. The ending of an incredible day!

On Saturday my dad came up and traded with mom so she can go home to work, she took grandpa with her. Soon after she left I started to miss my mother,  but I still had a great time with dad! The whole weekend was a great experience. On Sunday the last day my dad and I head over to the Rock &  Gem show and sold more of my rocks. After the rock show was over all the sellers brought there cars and trucks inside the arena to pack there stuff and head home. But my dad and I took grandma and grandpa to Zaks is our favorite place to eat in Moab. We drove home and went to bed exhausted.

20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA

People think that there’s a huge Narwhal attacking every ship it sees in the Ocean. Ned is the king of all the harpooners. Professor Aronnaut study’s the world’s oceanshe is always interested in learning more about oceans and sea life. So he has joined with the crew of the Abraham Lincoln to hunt the Narwhal. They have a great metal war ship.

Ned really is not interested in hunting the Narwhal because he doesn’t believe one exists. However, early the next morning when on lookout Ned see’s what looks like the Narwhal and said “ahoy ahoy there she blows” every hand on deck grabbing there harpoons and readying the cannons. But nothing stops the Narwhal?

The Narwhal tears through the ship and sinking the war ship. Ned and Professor Aronnaut fall off the ship into the ocean. A strange glow appears and the Narwhal surfaces under Ned and Professor Aronnaut find themselves out of the water and metal platform. Is it a submarine or the Narwhal? No! It’s a submarine that looks like a Narwhal about 3,000 feet long!

A few minutes later a hatch opened on top of the submarine. Ned and Professor Aronnaut can hear voices deep in the submarine. Captain Nemo steps and with his crew and takes them down into the belly of the beast. The caption gives them dry clothes and strange food. He seems like a very nice man.

He tells them they can never leave the Nautilus, as no one will ever know of its existence. The next day he takes them to his library which has 12,000 books and says he has read them all. Then he takes them to the art and history room with treasures he found on the ocean floor.

Later they learn he is a billionaire because of the treasure he finds. Secretly he gives some of his wealth to countries to help fight for there freedom. He travels around the world. He also tells them that he is not only the captain but that he designed and built the Nautilus. He fights sharks, squids and ice caves to explore the ocean floor. But he really misses his wife and kids, they are dead.

At the end the Natilus encounters a storm and the ship seems to sink. Ned and Professor Aronnaut fall off the submarine and are found by a fisherman. They are excited to have lived through the journey to there freedom.

CAMPING W/ BOY SCOUT TROOP

I'm going to tell you a story about going camping at Recapture Reservoir. First, we went to Clark’s to shop for food and stuff to make dutch oven cobbler. Then all the Boy Scouts in my troop hooked the trailer to dad's Durango, put our food in the cooler, and off we go! When we got there everybody starts setting up their tents. Next, we collect wood for the fire, I got a piece of tissue and my lighter, started the tissue on fire and put it on the wood to start the fire. After the fire is started all of us grab a kayak and go out to the freezing cold water.

Some of us fall in the water, like I did. But, it was still fun to kayak. After that all of us brought the kayaks onto the shore and dumped the water from the boat. We were ready to eat so we started cooking the cobbler and root beer rice and chicken. Yummy it was delicious! We ate and ate and ate and then told stories. I told them about the hot air balloon festival in January. After we finish telling stories we get a plate of dutch oven chocolate cobbler.

When it got dark, we all sang songs and then went to bed. In the morning we got up and made breakfast and went kayaking again, this time everybody went this time it was a blast.
